Flatsome WordPress theme is one of the most popular and most sold themes on the Envato platform.
This is a good WordPress theme for ecommerce websites and the Themeforest platform shows close to 240,000 sales for this theme.
I have used the Flatsome WordPress theme for one of my ecommerce clients and it worked quite well from SEO as well as user perspective.
The ecommerce website that I am talking about has over 3000 products and we want to categorize these products into various product categories and all went well.

In any ecommerce website, SEO is extremely important and if the theme gives you the freedom and removes all barriers from the search engine’s point of view, you are at ease I highly recommend using a WordPress theme that is compatible with various SEO plugins for WordPress.
While WordPress for e-commerce sites is quite SEO friendly, the proper categorization, usage of the right plugin for page titles, descriptions, URLs, and image optimization helped us get our content and pages indexed and ranked quite well.
The most commonly used SEO plugins were compatible with the Flatsome template and we did not have to worry about any discrepancies.
The home page is one of the most important pages for any eCommerce website, and this WordPress theme has good features for showcasing various products and categories.
For example – we wanted a main slider that could display a big banner so that a user could be shown a particular product or a category from this slider.
Apart from having a big banner, we could break down the slider area into small images and link to various products or categories.
This gave a lot of flexibility to use the main slider area.
Moving forward, just below the main slider area, some sections can be used for Featured products, Bestsellers, and a products of a particular category.
Footer
While the footer is usually used to show a couple of links, we utilized it to showcase our most important and best-selling products.
The users gave us feedback and when we landed on the home page, the categorization showed a lot of products from different categories that helped them browse products easily.
This also helped the SEO efforts as the crawling from the home page is easier and the products and category pages that were linked from the home page were crawled and indexed quickly.
Do I recommend the Flatsome WordPress theme?
In short, I recommend the Flatsome WordPress theme, but you should have good hosting or a server for the theme to function well.
Initially, with this client, the hosting could have been better and the website could have been faster in response. So much so that the users started hating us and abandoned orders.
Since the website has thousands of products, we somehow blamed the theme and even WordPress as a platform.
However, we realized it was not about the theme but the hosting. We then got a cloud-based dedicated server and the site started working smoothly.
Hence, while the theme is good, you certainly need a suitable server for it to work efficiently.
